In the world of failing therapies, ARULA for Autism is the only successful solution. HOW?

Even though the current prevailing centers specializing in speech and language therapy to treat Autism have a great 'infrastructural' set-up, as in, playrooms, a lot of tools and toys, etc.; none of this apparatus actually contributes to achieving the best speech and language as well as behavioral results in the child with autism.

Why is that?

1) TRADITIONAL PHYSICAL THERAPIES ARE GIVEN MORE IMPORTANCE THAN EMOTIONAL THERAPIES.

The child is dragged to various 'therapies' and is expected to perform his level best in all the play and games activities. Whether the child is actually even understanding what he has to do in these activities, is never considered. Thus, understanding is given way less importance than 'copy-paste' tendencies. Meaning, even if the child manages to perform these activities by mimicking his therapy provider, 9 out of 10 times, he/she is just copying his therapy provider. A real understanding of the activity is rarely ever achieved.

2) THERAPIES BUT AT THE COST OF WHAT? FAMILY BONDING.

It is a proven fact that the child performs his best, and has the highest learning graph if he/she is provided the needed learning inputs in the family environment. The various therapies suggested to treat Autism, require the child to get dragged from one therapy center to the other. This doesn't only exhaust the child mentally and physically but consumes his/her valuable family time where maximum bonding and emotional development guarantee take place. Especially, the most important area of his/her growth- Mother-Child Bonding- is compromised.

3) POOR METHODS OF EXECUTION- LISTENING SKILLS VERY SCARCELY PRIORITISED.

The best way to achieve meaningful speech results is by the way of improving the child's listening skills, which subsequently ensures better interpretation of spoken language, and then finally produces meaningful speech and communication. However, the practice of imitating the words and speech of the therapist is the widely accepted norm in the prevailing speech therapy industry. Not only does this produce extremely meaningless and temporary speech results, but turns the child into a 'copy-paste' machine.

4) MAKES CHILD VISUAL SEEKER, NOT AN AUDITORY SEEKER.

Constant and repetitive use of various visually engaging instruments makes the child an obsessive visual seeker. The child's dependency on always getting visually stimulating cues increases, and when the instructions are given by the way of speech (talking, saying, telling), he often cannot interpret what is being said to him and thus fails to truly develop his understanding.

5) HORIZON BETWEEN THE INCEPTION OF THERAPY AND THE ATTAINMENT OF RESULTS IS TOO WIDE.

Committing to various therapies is very time-consuming as well as taxing in terms of effort, stress, and expenditure. Most of the therapy practices prevailing in the market today do not promise any results at the start of the therapy and it's only a matter of time before the parents realize that these therapies are failing to produce any results in the child and that all their cumulative efforts, time and expenditure till now have rendered no fruitful results.

The most deprecating effect of this traditional autism recovery model is seen in the mother-child bonding in the case of that child. He/she gets absolutely zero quality time with the mother, let alone the other family members. At the end of this cycle, parents finally come to a realization that not only did the combination of all these therapies prove to be absolutely inefficient and useless but also ended up causing exorbitant expenditure to the families of these autistic children.

In our next blog, we’ll write about how ARULA for Autism has established itself as India’s only Completely Online Speech Therapy Platform which overcomes all these shortfalls existing in the current model of traditional speech therapy
